Udaipur, Day Three

On Saturday morning, we experienced Udaipur on horseback. The two of us and a guide rode horses for a few hours through some villages and farmland in a rural part outside the city. The scenery was pretty amazing, combining mountains, desert and farms. All of the children in the towns we rode through were eager to greet our white faces. They love to say "namaste."

We spent the afternoon and evening covering the last few sites in Udaipur. This included a visit to the Monsoon Palace, one of the four palaces - but this one literally sits on top of a mountain and visitors are greeted with a 360 degree view of the city, palaces, lakes and surrounding mountains.

The consensus amongst us is that Udaipur, though out of the way, was definitely worth the trip. In fact, we both agreed that it's probably the best place we've been to so far. It is very scenic and the people are much more laid back than in some of the other tourist hot spots.
