After 16 hours of travel and three flights, Woodson and I landed at our weekend destination, Chiang Mai, Thailand. Chiang Mai is a city of about 500,000 in northern Thailand. The city is one of the ancient capitals of Thailand and sits at the base of the Himalayas.
Our first day in Thailand was fairly fortuitous. Thailand has proven, thus far, to be great. While I enjoyed my time in India, to be perfectly honest, India was disgusting in comparison. In Thailand, the streets are clean, people obey laws, there aren't population problems, sanitation rules apply, animals and people don't relieve themselves in the street and people aren't constantly hounding you. Also, and possibly far more important, the food is delicious.
Temple in Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai has a ton of temples (called "wats" in this part of the world). The majority of the population in Thailand is Buddhist and most of these temples date back hundreds of years.

The streets are clean?? Wait until you hit Bangkok...But that is a country in itself, like any other major city in any other country....
